Lisa Puckett
Lisa starting dancing shortly after she
starting walking, but was officially
enrolled in her first dance classes at
age 4. She continued dance training
in ballet, tap and jazz through her
teenage years, focusing on classical
ballet. In adulthood she has continued
learning and enjoying various forms
of jazz, modern and popular dance,
and has introduced dance and creative
movement in liturgical form in her
church worship services.
Lisa was first introduced to Ballroom dancing during the popularity of the Dirty
Dancing Movie, when she trained and performed in exhibition performances
with a group of dancers who served as extras in the movie.
Lisa was re-introduced to ballroom dance in the summer of 2006. In 2007 she
was competing Pro-am as an amateur, and in 2008 won Top Bronze Solo
Exhibition at the Heritage Classic Dancesport Championships at Grove Park
Inn in Asheville NC. She also won Top Silver Solo Exhibition and 1st place in
the Nancy S. Zwerling American Rhythm Multi-Dance Scholarship at the
Carolina Classic Competition in Greensboro NC in 2008. In January 2009 Lisa
become a professional and in January 2010 opened Black Cat Ballroom Xcetra
in order to be able to share her love for dance.
Lisa is currently working toward completion of a DVIDA Certification in the
American Smooth and American Rhythm dances. Lisa is passionate about
dancing and this is evident in her teaching. Lisa's favorite dances to perform
and choreograph are the Latin and American Rhythm dances, especially
Rumba, Cha-Cha and Samba.
Lisa firmly believes in continuing her own education in order to be able to
provide her students with the best instruction possible. She has been
coached by many knowledgeable professionals such as Ted Ross, Robertas
Maleckis, Wendy Johnson and Karina Smirnoff, and will continue to seek the
best training available.

Mathew Bader
A familiar face you will see at Black Cat is Matt. He was responsible for
updating and getting the studio ready to open! Matt also is a pretty good
dancer having started taking social dance lessons about 3 years ago. You are
likely to see him doing everything from answering the phone, to making repairs
to the studio, to assisting Lisa in classes. Matt's favorite dances are Waltz and
the International Style Quickstep. In his "spare" time Matt runs "The Dancin'
Handyman" and is also owner of Scapegoat Skateboards.
Sandra McCloud
If you are not greeted by Lisa or Matt when you come in or call Black Cat, most
likely you will be greeted by Sandra. Sandra is directly responsible for Lisa's
introduction to dance, as she was the one who enrolled her in her first ballet
class. Sandra will be helping with administrative tasks and bookkeeping.
Sandra could seriously shake her booty during the Disco era, and still enjoys
Shag and Two Step on occasion.
